I hope, I want, I need...
We hope, we want, we need...
We hope to find friendship.
We want to make this world a better place.

We hope to make a difference together.

And when division has only led to pain,

We need each other more than ever,

Because together we are more powerful -

We help each other rise as one.

We built these walls together,

We’ll break them down together.

We’re all in this together
To change our world forever

And when we work together

We all will rise as one.

Together we can change the world,

Together we can soar the sky and sing,

Together we will sing!

 

We love, we cry, we heal,
We build, we rise, we are one.

 

And we will find friendship
And we will make this world a better place And we will make a difference together, Because together we are stronger as one.

An uplifting piece with a theme of unity. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced a year of online and distanced forms of music-making, the students of the Hochstein Youth Singers (grades 4-12) came back together in the fall of 2021 and wrote the words of this text, simply given the prompt "Together...". The words were organized and adapted by the composer. Premiered in June 2022. Written for SAB voices and an active piano part. Bass/Tenor splits available if needed. This performance was conducted by the composer. Yasuko Irvine, pianist.
